SAS and Netezza form in-database alliance

Nov 18, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Business intelligence company SAS and data warehousing company Netezza have expanded their partnership to provide in-database analytic processing to mutual customers.

The companies will jointly perform R&D efforts to further integrate their respective products, starting with SAS Scoring Accelerator for Netezza, available worldwide in early 2010. The SAS Scoring Accelerator for Netezza automates data preparation and model deployment tasks inside the database.

The company said the partnership will reduce data movement across networks and enable the enterprises to process more analytic models without risking reliability.

Keith Collins, senior vice president and chief technology officer at SAS, said: "SAS Scoring Accelerator for Netezza, our first in-database activity with Netezza, further demonstrates SAS' commitment to integrating SAS Analytics across leading database vendors. Running SAS analytic scoring processes where data is stored moves customers closer to real-time decision making." Last month, SAS and data warehousing and enterprise analytic firm Teradata formed a partnership to set up a Business Analytics Innovation Center to enable clients grow revenue, reduce risk and improve operations.
