Applied Materials to take over Semitool for USD364m


(M&A Navigator Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) US nanomanufacturing technology solution provider Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) has signed a final agreement to buy the outstanding shares of semiconductor device equipment supplier Semitool (NASDAQ:SMTL) for USD364m (EUR244.3m).

The purchase will expand Applied's product range and will broaden the buyer's reach to a new set of customers in the semiconductor packaging industry, the group said on Tuesday.

The all-cash deal, priced at USD11 apiece, was approved by the boards of directors of both companies.
