'Joost closes office in Leiden'

Nov 17, 2009 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Dutch online video provider Joost has closed its office in Leiden, the Netherlands. The provider, which launched in 2007, had already closed office in England in October. More office closures are expected in the near future, and bankruptcy considered unavoidable. Joost was set up up by Skype initiators Friis and Nikolas Zennstrong in 2007, offering online video content. At first, users had to download an application for PCs; they were later able to watch videos via a web browser, with Joost offering video platforms under its own brand name. In the course of 2009, it became clearer that this strategy was not delivering as planned.
