[November 17, 2009] Raytheon wins $197m US Navy contract Tweet Nov 17, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Raytheon has won a five-year $197m contract from the US Navy to provide life-cycle engineering and support for the Navy's next generation LPD 17 amphibious warfare ships. Under the LPD Alliance, Raytheon is the total ship electronics systems integrator, and the prime contractor for life-cycle engineering and support for LPD 17. The company provides shipboard wide area network, integrated product data environment, total ship information management, and integrated ship electronics architecture. Work under the contract will be performed at the Expeditionary Warfare Center, San Diego, California; and Seapower Capability Center, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Dan Smith, president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, said: "With this award, Raytheon will continue to deliver critical ship systems support to ensure mission success for our Navy customer. We are committed to providing the US Navy fleet with the technology, capabilities and support to achieve its mission objectives."
