ASUS Selects Mellanox for InfiniBand Adapter Devices

Nov 12, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- ASUS and Mellanox Technologies, a supplier of connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, announced the launch of ASUS Z8PH-D12 SE/QDR, a half size serverboard equipped with Mellanox ConnectX 40Gb/s InfiniBand Host Channel Adapter (HCA) devices supporting Landed-on-Motherboard applications.

Built around Intel Xeon 5520 Series processors with DDR3 memory, the Z8PH-D12 SE/QDR is a compact serverboard equipped with onboard enhancements such as ASUS EPU (Energy Processing Unit) and ASMB4-iKVM for power efficiency and remote control of multiple computers.

Equipped with Mellanox's 40Gb/s InfiniBand fabric connectivity, the Z8PH-D12 SE/QDR serverboard is designed to offer performance for a range of HPC applications. Users in the industries such as oil and gas, engineering, and research and development can benefit from its large bandwidth support when running intensive modeling and data processing applications.

"The ASUS Z8PH-D12 SE/QDR is a leading compute-intensive serverboard that is compact, power-efficient and built of high-quality components that reduce power stress while improving durability and product lifespan," said Tom Lin, general manager of server business unit, ASUS. "By leveraging Mellanox's low-latency, high-bandwidth 40Gb/s InfiniBand connectivity on our Z8PH-D12 SE/QDR server motherboards, our customers will achieve optimal efficiency and productivity." "ASUS serverboards with Mellanox ConnectX adapter devices as a Landed-on-Motherboard deliver a better return on compute resources by providing higher efficiency and system utilization," said John Monson, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. "These performance benefits will become increasingly important as a growing number of enterprises rely on HPC solutions for mission critical applications."
