[November 16, 2009] Mellanox introduces ConnectX-2 adapter products Tweet (Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mellanox Technologies Ltd (Nasdaq:MLNX) (TASE:MLNX) is introducing ConnectX-2 adapter products with CORE-Direct, application acceleration and scaling technology, the supplier of connectivity solutions for datacentre servers and storage systems said on Monday. The new capabilities in ConnectX-2 mark the next step in High-Performance Computing (HPC) interconnect solutions that will enable improvements in application performance and scalability, increasing the productivity of compute centres. According to the company, ConnectX-2 with CORE-Direct is the first host channel adapter (HCA) in the market to process in hardware application communications used by scientific simulation for data broadcast, global synchronisation and data collection. By offloading the collectives communication, the adapters help to reduce simulation completion time by accelerating the synchronisation process and freeing up CPU cycles to work on the simulation, in this way enabling greater scalability by eliminating system jitter and noise. ConnectX-2 adapter cards and ICs are available now. No pricing details were disclosed.
