[November 14, 2009] Tele Atlas Licenses Intermap's 3D Terrain Models Tweet Nov 13, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Intermap Technologies, a 3D digital mapping company, announced it has signed an agreement with Tele Atlas, a provider of digital maps and content for navigation and location-based solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Intermap said it will furnish uniform 3D elevation data derived from its 5-meter posted NEXTMap countrywide digital map database. "We're encouraged that our precision elevation data is being used to enhance the display of road networks for a full range of navigation services," said Brian Bullock, Intermap's president and CEO. "Tele Atlas is continuing to demonstrate its leadership in delivering what navigation system users want - the world as it truly is, in 3D. The immediate availability of our uniformly accurate 3D digital maps allows automotive, personal navigation and LBS solutions providers to meet the demands of their customers sooner, rather than later." Intermap's NEXTMap data provides a uniform and accurate geospatial base layer, enabling Tele Atlas to conflate other visual assets such as building models, roads, and landmarks - resulting in a realistic visualization product that matches the outside world.
