Clobbering Wife's Suspected Lover Proves Costly for Trio

Harare, Nov 13, 2009 (The Herald/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- LOCAL businessman Hardson Mhlanga and his two colleagues have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and severely assaulting a man he suspected of having an affair with his wife.

Mhlanga (35), who operates Pogamo Heights Nightclub, was arrested at the weekend along with Kingston Muzvidziwa (36) and Clyton Zimbeva (age not given).

They were not asked to plead to the charges when they appeared before magistrate Mr Tavengwa Sangster on Wednesday who remanded them in custody to November 13 for bail hearing.

Mhlanga is being charged with inciting his accomplices to kidnap and assault the complainant, while Muzvidziwa and Zimbeva are facing charges of kidnapping and assault. The State, led by Mr Foster Abheki, alleges that on November 7 this year, Mhlanga summoned Muzvidziwa and Zimbeva to Pogamo Heights along with other suspects who are still at large.

He told them to kidnap the complainant and assault him as punishment for proposing love to his wife.

On the same day at around 6pm, one of the accomplices phoned the victim on his cellphone on the pretext that he wanted him to fix his television set.

When he got to Pogamo they bundled him into a car and took him to a bushy area near the aerodrome.

There they severely assaulted him all over the body with open hands, sticks and electric cables while Mhlanga watched from his car.

They left him lying unconscious in the bush.

As a result, he sustained severe body injuries.

The complainant made a police report leading to the trio's arrest.
