China B2C market transaction value up in Q3, Analysys International

SHANGHAI, Nov 13, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The transaction value of China's business-to-customer (B2C) retail market hit 6.06 billion yuan in the third quarter, up 33.4 percent quarter on quarter and 171 percent year on year, according to statistics from Analysys International, the market researcher.

Chen Shousong, an analyst with Analysys International, believes that the growth was driven by the growing acceptance of online shopping among consumers, the popularity of household appliances and clothes on the online market, as well as manufacturers focusing more on selling their products directly to consumers via the e-commerce channel.

According to statistics from cnzz.com, an online technology service provider, the number of Chinese shopping online grew fivefold from 2005 to 2009. In September, 195 million netizens visited e-commerce websites, up 17 percent year on year.

It is estimated that China's B2C online shopping market will continue to expand in the fourth quarter.
