AirMagnet Unveils Planner for 802.11n WLAN DeploymentsNov 13, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- AirMagnet, a Fluke Networks company, announced AirMagnet Planner for 802.11n. The company said that the solution guides network professionals through the critical stages of 802.11n Wi-Fi network design, including migration from existing legacy networks, prediction of WLAN performance and post-deployment validation, offering customers functionality for a WLAN planning solution. AirMagnet explained that fundamental changes in the legacy RF systems and many new sub-technologies such as MIMO, beam forming and others have made an 802.11n network considerably more complex and challenging to deploy than its legacy network counterpart. In addition, all hardware vendors are implementing 802.11n differently, causing interoperability issues to arise that can impact legacy devices. With true 802.11n network performance being defined by data rates and throughput - which can be hard to attain, manage and measure - it is vital that network professionals have advanced planning applications that allow for effective WLAN design and modeling. "AirMagnet has taken the leadership role in 802.11n deployment and management solutions, offering the industry's only complete mobile toolset for 11n, which includes AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer and AirMagnet Survey," said Chris Roeckl, vice president of marketing at AirMagnet. "Whether an organization is rolling out a new 11n deployment or transitioning an existing legacy network, the elements for success remain the same: migration, prediction and validation. AirMagnet provides the only solution today that covers all of these aspects and can ensure the successful design of a high-performance WLAN for business-critical applications." Along with modeling new 802.11n networks, AirMagnet said its Planner takes the guesswork out of WLAN design and installation, while clearly defining a migration strategy to 802.11n.
