Citi uses ViVOtech technology in contactless mobile payment pilot in Bengaluru, India

Nov 12, 2009 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- ViVOtech, a provider of technology for mobile payments, loyalty and marketing solutions, announced today that its Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile payment wallet, Over-the-Air provisioning, smart posters, coupon delivery and redemption technologies have been successfully deployed By CitiBank in the Indian city of Bengaluru for a pilot scheme trialling Citibank's Citi Tap and Pay mobile credit payment scheme.



The company said that the mobile payment structure deployed by ViVOtech allows pilot participants in India to easily download OTA a personal Citibank MasterCard Credit card to their mobile phones. Cardholders also enjoy promotional offers by tapping their NFC phones on smart posters, and receive coupons in seconds. When ready for a purchase, participants just tap their mobile phones at ViVOpay contactless payment readers to redeem coupons and make payments with credit or debit cards.

No details of the value of the pilot contract were disclosed.
