[November 12, 2009] Huawei Leads Global Optical Network Market Tweet BEIJING, Nov 12, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chinese telecoms equipment provider Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. snatched the lion's share of the world's optical network market in the year ended September 30, 2009, according to Dana Cooperson, an executive of the market adviser Ovum. The market generated a total revenue of about USD 15.2 billion in the fiscal year, including USD 3.6 billion from July to September 2009, declining 10% year on year, according to Ovum. Huawei's share of the global optical network market reached 20.5% in the second quarter of 2009, compared to 20.7% at Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU). At that time, Ovum forecasted that the Chinese company would surpass Alcatel Lucent in the third quarter. Of the world's top ten optical network providers, only Huawei and another Chinese company named ZTE Corp.
