BRIEF: Ceragon wins Botswana deal: Botswana has one of the highest mobile phone penetration-rates in Africa.Nov 11, 2009 (Globes - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Wireless backhaul solutions developer Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT) has signed a deal with Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) for the supply of FibeAir solutions to upgrade its nationwide wireless backbone as well as the backhaul network of its cellular subsidiary BeMobile. Ceragon said that equipment orders for the project will exceed $1.5 million. Botswana, with a population of two million, has one of the highest mobile phone penetration-rates in Africa, and BTC is currently working on its Rural Services Improvement and Expansion project. The deployment is due to be competed by the end of 2009. Ceragon president and CEO Ira Palti said, "We are very pleased to extend our relations with BTC and support the expansion of new wireless voice and broadband services in Botswana." Ceragon closed at $9.67 on Nasdaq yesterday, giving a market cap of $344 million. The share rose 2.7 percent in morning trading on the TASE today to NIS 36.83.
