Ceragon solutions to be used to upgrade backhaul network for Botswana Telecom

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Network equipment provider Ceragon Networks Ltd (Nasdaq: CRNT) (TASE: CRNT) announced today that Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has selected Ceragon's solutions to upgrade its nationwide wireless backbone network, as well as the backhaul network of its cellular subsidiary BeMobile.

The company said that the network expansion planned by BTC will equip the mobile operator with the capability to support expected rapid subscriber growth and meet its service expansion plans.

Botswana has one of the highest mobile phone penetration-rates in Africa. BTC offers its customers a range of voice and data services, all of which are supported over its mobile network. Using Ceragon's FibeAir solutions that support high speed wireless transmission, will enable the operator to continue to offer its growing customer base high-quality and disturbance free service delivery. The deployment is part of the Rural Services Improvement and Expansion project that BTC has signed with Botswana's telecom regulator. Deployments are already under way and are expected to be completed by the end of 2009.

The contract is valued at in excess of USD1.5m.
