Telenor Norway selects Starent Networks for multimedia core network equipmentNov 10, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- US-based Starent Networks, a provider of infrastructure solutions, has announced that Telenor Norway, a provider of wireless solutions, has selected the company to provide multimedia core network equipment for the carrier's 2G, 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE networks. Telenor will deploy Starent's Serving GPRS support node and Gateway GPRS support node for the 2G and 3G/UMTS networks and Mobility Management Entity, Serving Gateway and Packet Data Network Gateway for the 4G/LTE network on the ST40 multimedia core platform. Additionally, Telenor's network will utilize Starent's network-based traffic optimization in-line service. Telenor Norway will utilize Starent's multimedia core solutions to enable high-speed multimedia services such as video, digital music, social networking and internet on its networks, said Starent. Ragnar Karhus, CEO of Telenor Norway, said: "This is the biggest upgrade of the mobile network in Norway we have ever carried out. It will create a solid base for further developing the services offered by the Telenor mobile network and the quality of those services.
