Enablence Technologies announces management changes

Nov 09, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Enablence Technologies, a provider of optical components, subsystems and systems, has appointed Tim Thorsteinson to its board of directors, replacing management member Ashok Balakrishnan.

Mr Thorsteinson, who recently retired as president of the broadcast division of Harris, has served as a Harris officer and as a member of the company's executive committee.

Prior to joining Harris, he was president and CEO at Leitch Technology, where he was reportedly the architect of a turnaround that restored Leitch to a public company which was later acquired by Harris.

Mr Thorsteinson has held several senior and executive management positions including those at Thomson Broadcast & Media Solutions, the Grass Valley Group and the video and networking division at Tektronix.

The company has also appointed Michael Skubisz as president of Enablence's systems division. He will be reporting to Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence and is replacing former president, Thomas Tighe.

Prior to his appointment as president of the systems division, Mr Skubisz was the vice president of technology planning at Enablence. He joined Enablence following its acquisition of Pannaway, where he had also served as chief technologist and as a board member.

In the past, Mr Skubisz has also served as president and CEO of Aprisma Management Technologies and in various roles at Cabletron Systems where he was responsible for Cabletron's $1 billion product line.

Mr Chhatbar said: "As we move forward in achieving our operating targets, we are putting in place the critical elements required for our next phase of growth. Enablence has quickly emerged as a leading player in the optical and fiber-to-the-home industry and we are eager to continue our expansion. Tim's presence on our board will provide us with a seasoned resource and will enhance our ability to critically assess our operations and increase global reach." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
