'Synterra connects Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude via fibre link'


(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Russian telecommunications company Synterra has built a 570km fibre link connecting Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude cities. The backbone crosses eight towns, for which Synterra will install DWDM equipment by 1 December. Initial capacity of the line is 10 Gbps. The operator owns two alternative routes interconnecting the cities. The size of investment exceeds RUB 300 million. The backbone will enable the operator to expand services in the towns crossed by the backbone. Local operators will receive an opportuinty to join Synterra's programme on development of local Wimax networks.
