Continuous Computing's Trillium protocol stack chosen by Tatara

(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SIP-based femtocell convergence specialist Tatara Systems announced on Thursday the selection of telecoms solutions provider Continuous Computing's Trillium MAP IS-41 protocol stack to be employed within its femtocell convergence solution, the Tatara Convergence Server (TCS) for CDMA networks.

No financial details were disclosed.

According to the company, the Tatara Convergence Server solution enables the interconnection of femtocells and other IP-based radio network elements with the legacy macro wireless network, providing mobile voice, messaging and data experience in an IP environment supporting both VoIP and IMS networks.

The TCS capabilities include authentication of the mobile subscribers, handoff between femtocells and the macro network, emergency and supplementary services, as well as delivering new IP-based applications to existing mobile handsets without modifying the existing macro network.

Trillium Mobile Application Part - IS-41 (MAP-IS-41) portable software product provides the functions and procedures to query various databases or support other components in the intelligent network, such as VLR, HLR, MSC, AC or SME. The software supports the IS-41 Rev C and D variant of the protocol and supports key functions for prepaid charging services and wireless number portability services.
