[November 05, 2009] 'Ntl:Telewest powers operations for Incommunities' Tweet (DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) UK-based housing group Incommunities has deployed Virgin Media Group subsidiary Ntl:Telewest Business' advanced network to underpin its operations and deliver mobile working for staff. Incommunities is linking its eight key offices and smaller sites across the network, providing IP telephony for 750 staff and business continuity for the entire organisation. The 250 tradespeople responsible for supporting its properties are using mobile PDA devices to access central information systems, which enables them to receive job details. The new Metro Ethernet VPN connects all sites, enabling core business systems to be situated on two sites. As part of the contract, Ntl:Telewest will manage the network and Incommunities can increase bandwidth as required. The new network enables the company to deploy server virtualisation technologies splitting IT across multiple servers. This includes a new Storage Area Network.
