Huawei selected by Mediacom to deploy DWDM transport

Oct 30, 2009 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- Huawei, a provider of telecoms network solutions, said today that it has been selected by Mediacom Communications, a US cable operator, to deploy Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transport across more than 4000kms of the company's backbone network in the US States of Iowa, Missouri and Minnesota.

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Mediacom with its OSN6800A NG-WDM platform utilizing the latest in optical technologies with multi-degree ROADM, tunable optics and OTN cross-connects. The network solution will support 10/40G and future 100G wavelengths to deliver high bandwidth services.

As part of Huawei's All-IP convergence strategy, the OSN6800 is a flexible and manageable WDM transport platform based on OTN (Optical Transport Network) and ASON (Automatically Switched Optical Network) architecture.
