GridPoint Hires Smart Grid and Utility Industry ExecsOct 24, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- GridPoint, a provider of smart grid software, announced that it has appointed smart grid and utility industry veterans Michael T. Donohue and Michael Hearney to its corporate development group. Donohue, formerly Managing Partner in Accenture's North American Utilities Practice, will be responsible for coordinating the company's interaction with customers, systems integrator partners, and state and local regulators. Hearney, formerly Vice President of Global Alliances for eMeter, will lead GridPoint's partnership and alliances initiatives. "I am certain our customers and partners will appreciate their considerable knowledge and skills as we work together to build a clean, efficient grid." - At Accenture, Donohue developed smart technology strategy and smart grid business cases for North American and multinational utilities and power companies including Duke Energy, E.ON, National Grid, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and Xcel Energy. He also assisted in creating the World Economic Forum's smart grid initiatives and has presented at its meetings in Zurich and Jordan. Prior to Accenture, Donohue served in the senior category manager position for a consumer products manufacturer focusing on new product development and marketing effectiveness. - While at eMeter, a provider of meter data management software to utilities, Hearney was responsible for building and managing the company's alliance and partnership strategy. He established and extended the company's strategic relationships with companies such as SAP, IBM, Accenture, Logica, Oracle, Tibco and Siemens. Prior to eMeter, Hearney was Vice President of Sales for Waterfield Technologies, where he created or expanded customer relationships with Centerpoint Energy, Dominion Resources and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). He has also held executive sales, marketing and business development positions at Mobilearia and Altitude Software. Hearney began his career with PG&E, where he served in a variety of management roles in customer service and operations management.
