[October 22, 2009] Aggressive Outreach to Small and Midsize Businesses Highlight Third Quarter for AT&T Business Solutions Tweet DALLAS, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* Business Solutions, the business unit within AT&T offering services for business customers, completed a successful third quarter 2009 highlighted by an aggressive outreach to small and midsize businesses that included new offers and customer support programs. AT&T's small business efforts were driven by a series of announcements that emphasized the company's efforts to embed AT&T's 3G wireless technology into netbooks and laptops from leading device manufacturers. AT&T also announced that in the first half of 2010 it will be the first U.S. service provider in the telecom industry to offer remote access support services built on Intel® vPro(TM) technology. The business unit rolled out several support programs during the quarter including the introduction of Tech Support 360 Desktop Helpdesk Minutes, an expansion of the popular Tech Support 360 service that is now available to midsize businesses with an average 15 to 50 employees. The service offers remote online computer support, installation assistance and PC performance tune-up 24 hours a day, seven days a week via any high speed Internet connection. To further help small business owners, AT&T expanded its AT&T Small Business InSite, an online portal for small business owners, with a series of free, practical "how to" articles, podcasts, webinars, and video resources designed to help entrepreneurs make the most of technology in their businesses. Other business unit highlights during the quarter included: -- A $45 million Networx contract win with the U.S. Department of State. -- A strategic agreement with Barnes & Noble to provide complimentary in-store AT&T Wi-Fi service to any customer that visits a Barnes & Noble bookstore nationwide, -- The expansion of AT&T's Wi-Fi presence in Europe and China, bringing its global Wi-Fi footprint to 125,000 hotspots, -- An enhanced Network-Based Firewall offer with new functionality and security features, and -- The expansion of its managed security services to India. AT&T Business Solutions provides networking services and solutions for business customers and organizations globally. Its customers include every company listed in the Fortune 1000; large, midsize, and small businesses; wholesale customers; and federal, state and local governmental agencies in the U.S. During the third quarter, AT&T Business Solutions made the following updates to its enterprise portfolio: Voice Over IP (VoIP) IP Telephony and LAN Service for Avaya IP PBX: AT&T added the capability to deliver a complete managed IP Telephony solution from design through lifecycle with fully integrated performance management and monitoring systems from AT&T and Avaya. The solution covers design, procurement, installation, test, turn-up, monitoring, management and maintenance for converged IP telephony systems. The offer, previously only available in North America, is designed for enterprises with 100 seats or more and is now available in 56 countries. Collaboration AT&T Connect Version 8.8: AT&T expanded its leading converged audio, web and video conferencing solution with the addition of high demand video features and support for event-based billing. The enhancements include up to 4-way, H.264 high quality streaming video and billing identifier capabilities that allow customers to track conference expenses associated with projects. AT&T Telepresence Solution: During the quarter, AT&T made these additions to its AT&T Telepresence Solution: -- CTS1300 Support - a single screen, three-camera configuration that can be installed in an existing general purpose conferencing room, offering greater flexibility and a lower entry cost point, -- Increased the maximum number of endpoints that can be connected simultaneously from 8 to 12, -- A Company Directory is now available in the AT&T Telepresence Solution Portal to enable portal subscribers to access a list of companies to assist them in identifying collaboration opportunities with their business partners. Hosting, Cloud, and Application Management Services AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service Enhancements: AT&T has made several enhancements to AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service such as the capability to procure directly via the customer portal. Other enhancements include: -- New web channel option to facilitate self-service online orders, -- Streamlined internal contracting and ordering process, -- Increased self-administration and reporting visibility via BusinessDirect, -- Service incorporated into AT&T SAS 70 Type II certification. Most of World Managed Application Support for Microsoft Exchange and SAP: AT&T announced the availability of hosted and managed SAP® applications and Microsoft Exchange in those foreign countries where AT&T provides services. Hosting and Application Management for Oracle's Hyperion and Oracle's Siebel CRM: AT&T expanded its portfolio of supported Oracle applications and now offers managed application support for Oracle's Hyperion performance management software and Siebel CRM. e-Commerce Professional Services, Load and QA Testing: AT&T now offers load testing and quality assurance (QA) testing for online businesses to help them determine their websites' load capability. This will enhance performance by identifying maximum traffic load, identifying bottlenecks and design faults and helping customers determine if their applications or websites are ready for launch. Clients can offload mundane QA testing to AT&T and reassign their scarce resources to more strategic tasks.
