[October 21, 2009] Huawei Technologies Eyes Taiwan HSPA Plus Data Card Market Tweet SHENZHEN, Oct 21, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Mainland China-based telecoms equipment provider Haiwei Technologies Co., Ltd. has offered its HSPA Plus data cards to some Taiwan mobile operators for testing, before the island's mass HSPA Plus network construction in 2010, citing a report. A type of Huawei-branded data cards are named D31HW, which are compatible with the mobile broadband downloading speed of 21.6Mbps. Earlier this year, the mainland company launched such cards in Japan in cooperation with the local telecoms operator EMobile Ltd. Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (TPE: 2412) plans to build its HSPA Plus network in those populous cities like Taipei, Taichung, and KaoHsiung next year, according to the company's vice general manager. Other local mobile operators have also showed their interest in the HSPA Plus service. In addition, Huawei Technologies announced this August that it would construct such a network for the Portuguese mobile operator Sonaecom SGPS SA (ELI: SNC), whose customers are predicted to enjoy the Chinese company's HSPA Plus data cards named E1820.
