[October 19, 2009] Beceem selects Mindspeed's Comcerto 100 broadband gateway processor Tweet Oct 19, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Beceem Communications, a provider of mobile WiMAX chips, has selected Mindspeed Technologies's Comcerto 100 broadband gateway processor for use within its BCS5200 customer premise equipment chip for residential, small office and home office, small-to-midsize businesses and enterprise applications. According to the company, the BCS5200 single-chip device combines Beceem's high-performance WiMAX solution with Mindspeed's Comcerto 100 processor that supports a complete suite of VoIP codecs and IP network protocol stacks. Providing all the features of a voice and data gateway in a single chip reduces the external component count and lowers the bill of materials (BOM) for voice and data gateways by at least 20% over existing solutions, said Mindspeed.
