BRIEF: Bus service begins


Oct 14, 2009 (Eastern Wake News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- EASTERN WAKE COUNTY -- Months in the planning, bus service fromeastern Wake County to Raleigh is about to begin.

Triangle Transit Authority will begin offering riders access to WakeMedand downtown Raleigh from eastern Wake County starting Oct. 26.

Work is nearly complete on park and ride lots in Wendell and Zebulon.

In Wendell, the park and ride lot is located at the cornerof Fourth and Oakwood Streets. In Zebulon, the park and ride lot is onStratford Drive off Gannon Avenue near McLean's Ole' Time Cafe.

The service will run three trips in the morning from easternWake County into Raleigh, with stops at WakeMed, the state government complexand at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh.

The morning routes will pick up hourly from 6-9 a.m.

The afternoon routes will work in reverse with three hourlytrips from 4-7 p.m.

Fares will be free through Nov. 30. Beginning Dec. 1, fareswill be $2.50 for a one-way trip and $5 for a round-trip ticket.
