Nortel introduces speech-to-text capabilites in CallPilot Unified Messaging portfolio

(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Voice-to-content services provider SpinVox announced on Wednesday the availability of new speech-to-text conversion capabilities in the Nortel CallPilot Unified Messaging portfolio.

According to the company, Mutare EVM combined with SpinVox Speech-to-Text takes the spoken content of a Nortel CallPilot voicemail, converts it to text and delivers the message with personalised Caller ID (name, e-mail and phone number) and optional audio attachment to up to five e-mail accounts or any smartphone, PDA or mobile phone.

A joint development by SpinVox and enterprise connectivity company Mutare Software, Mutare EVM with SpinVox Speech-to-Text, also known as Visual Voice, is an application that merges voice and data into one unified messaging experience and is compatible with any e-mail system or Internet-enabled device.

The solution enables business users to process voicemail up to four times faster as they can prioritise, forward, file, copy and delete converted voicemail messages with the ease and convenience of e-mail, improving productivity, customer responsiveness and workgroup collaboration.

The EVM capability is now supported with the Nortel CallPilot Unified Messaging portfolio and includes Mutare's EVM gateway and SpinVox Speech-to-Text messaging service. All transmitted messages are processed through a security system for audio and text formats, with encryption applied from the voice mail box through all stages of the conversion process.

Supported languages include English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. No pricing details were disclosed.
