New HD Contribution and On Demand Content Management Solutions at HD World & SATCONAtlanta – October 13, 2009 – Ericsson (News - Alert) (NASDAQ:ERIC) and TANDBERG Television, part of the Ericsson Group, will debut new solutions for programmers, broadcasters and operators at the HD World & SATCON Conferences and Expositions in New York, October 14-15. The demonstrations showcase the continuing technology innovations that have made TANDBERG Television (News - Alert) a market leader for high quality video transport and content management solutions. Visitors to the joint Ericsson and TANDBERG Television booth (#1001) will be able to see the world’s first MPEG-4 AVC HD 4:2:2 system solution. Designed for the high quality contribution market, it includes the first MPEG-4 AVC HD 4:2:2 encoder that supports up to 1080p50/60 HD encoding with 10-bit precision. Paired with the RX8200 advanced modular receiver, the system can be used to backhaul feeds produced in the 1080p60 format at bit-rates ranging from 20 to 80 Mbps. The solution enables content owners and broadcasters to increase bandwidth efficiency by delivering higher quality video or matching the current video quality using less bit rates than existing MPEG-2 delivery systems. Additionally on display will be the benefits of the new EN8190 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder for 4:2:0 video. This unit is targeted to the distribution and direct-to-home markets and enables providers to carry more HDTV channels with better picture quality, without increasing bandwidth costs. The video quality will be showcased using the RX8200 advanced modular receiver as well as the RX8250 MPEG-4 HD AVC to MPEG-2 HD program transcoder. Also making its HD World debut is the award-winning WatchPoint® Content Management System (CMS). WatchPoint CMS is a revolutionary metadata and content library designed for the centralized management of any metadata format, content type, and workflow process, enhancing on-demand business opportunities over any distribution platform. The new centralized multiplatform CMS takes the management of non-linear services to new levels, enabling content providers and operators to expand current services, introduce them on new platforms and accelerate new revenue streams.
