Oracle Extends Enterprise Performance Management Leadership With New Release

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Oct 12, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Oracle OpenWorld -- Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) News Facts -- To help organizations achieve management excellence, Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle(R) Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) System Release 11.1.1.3, which combines Performance Management and Business Intelligence (BI) to support a broad range of strategic, financial and operational management processes that enable organizations to become smart, agile, and aligned.

-- This latest release introduces the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Integrator module for Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management that supports the bi-directional integration of financial data into Oracle Hyperion performance management applications from various ERP systems.

-- A component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle EPM System Release 11.1.1.3 also delivers enhancements and integrations spanning simulations, data visualization and enhanced calculation management capabilities to help organizations more efficiently optimize performance through improved business insights and decision-making. This release is localized and available globally.

Turnkey Integration Helps Organizations Save Time, Improve Accuracy of Data -- Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management now features a prepackaged module, ERP Integrator, that integrates the Oracle E-Business Suite General Ledger (Releases 11.5.10 cu2, 12.0.6, and 12.1.1) and Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise General Ledger (Release 9.0) metadata directly into Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning applications, and supports bi-directional data integration for financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

-- With this new module, Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management automates and simplifies the collection, mapping, validation and movement of the data from general ledger systems to Hyperion applications.

-- Hyperion application users can also drill through to the Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft Enterprise General Ledgers to further analyze the data by examining transactional details.

Enhanced Simulation, Calculations Management and Visualization Features -- This new release also features enhanced integration between Oracle Essbase and Oracle Crystal Ball, a spreadsheet-based application for predictive modeling, forecasting, Monte Carlo simulation and optimization. This integration enables inline simulation within the Hyperion Smart View for Excel interface, which allows end users to view, import, manipulate, distribute and share Hyperion application and Essbase data in Microsoft Excel. Users can specify assumption variables and forecast variables directly within Excel.

-- The Oracle EPM System's common Calculation Manager, which enables customers to graphically design, validate and administer business rules, now supports Oracle Essbase in addition to the previously supported Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management.

-- Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer introduces custom defined geographic levels that allow the user to define their own mappings if the geographic dimension, for example "Eastern Region," lacks a standard geographic definition such as city, state or country.

Previewing New Oracle EPM System Functionality at Oracle OpenWorld 2009 -- Demonstrating its commitment to delivering leading Enterprise Performance Management solutions, Oracle's plans to further accelerate financial reporting capabilities by providing customers with a faster close will be previewed at Oracle OpenWorld 2009.

-- Extensions to its leading financial consolidation solution, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, will also be previewed at Oracle OpenWorld featuring additional planned financial close and disclosure management capabilities, including enhanced XBRL support.

Supporting Quotes -- "The introduction of the ERP Integrator module significantly strengthens the integration between the Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft Enterprise with Hyperion applications," said Bill Guilmart, vice president of EPM Product Management, Oracle. "With the module making metadata and data integration simpler, customers can extend their ERP investments while improving their reporting, analysis and planning cycles.

We're committed to delivering new capabilities and integrations to our leading performance management applications that will further help our customers manage, interact with, and utilize their financial and operational information to drive better business performance and results." -- "To reap the full benefits of our Oracle EPM applications, it's important to have seamless integration with our transaction systems," says Pandit Dhananjay, Sr. IT Analyst, Coherent. "The new Oracle ERP Integrator module will simplify the process of importing metadata and data into Oracle Hyperion Planning and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and has the potential to reduce significant manual work in defining data synchronizations." -- "Dealing with questions about information in financial reports can be a major overhead burden for finance departments," said Scott Peters, Director, Finit Solutions. "With Oracle's new ERP Integrator, finance staff have a simple, direct, efficient tool for finding the answers to those questions. End users will be able to drill from aggregated numbers in their planning or financial reporting system directly to the transaction detail in their general ledger for faster analysis and decision-making." -- "In the current business and financial climate, the need for financial data quality has received increasing focus as reporting requirements only continue to grow," said Robin Ranzal, President, Ranzal & Associates. "One of the key challenges that organizations that have deployed Enterprise Performance Management solutions face is ensuring that data and metadata remained synchronized, often in real time. The new ERP Integrator addresses this critical dependency by allowing organizations to source metadata and data directly from their ERP systems. This advance can deliver an improved ROI -- not only for an organization's EPM investment but also for their ERP investment."
