Eight years later, CBP employees in Port Huron, Mich., gathered at 8:46 a.m. for a flag lowering ceremony to reflect on the events of that terrible day and to have a moment of silence to remember those that were lost and the heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice. As travelers approached the CBP inspection facility on the Blue Water Bridge at 8:46 a.m., they were met by officers in formation out in the morning sun, watching the American flag being lowered and raised to half-mast as a tribute to those who were lost that day. Upon completion of the silent memorial, officers returned to work, fulfilling their commitment to protect and serve the American people every hour of every day.
