BRIEF: Longmont company's satellite to launch today


Oct 08, 2009 (Daily Camera - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Longmont-based DigitalGlobe Inc. plans to launch its next-generation satellite, WorldView-2, midday today.

The satellite, which will have the ability to capture up to three times the Earth's landmass on a yearly basis, has a launch window from 12:38 p.m. to 12:52 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time.

The eight-band multi-spectral satellite is launching on a Boeing Delta II rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
