BroadSoft announces intent to acquire Packet IslandOct 08, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- BroadSoft, a provider of VoIP application software, has announced its intent to acquire privately held, Cupertino, California-based Packet Island, a provider of SaaS-based quality of service assessment and monitoring tools for VoIP and video networks and services. BroadSoft said that its expanded solutions portfolio will enable service providers to offer significantly enhanced quality of service assessment and monitoring capabilities of its communication services. These solutions enable service providers to deploy VoIP and video services with guaranteed end-to-end 'carrier-grade' service delivery. According to BroadSoft, once the acquisition is complete, all Packet Island employees will be retained and Packet Island founder and CEO Praveen Kumar will become BroadSoft's PacketSmart chief technologist.
