Aircell unveils new airborne high speed Internet access unit


Oct 06, 2009 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- Aircell, a provider of airborne communications technology, announced today the availability of its new ATG 5000 High Speed Internet unit, designed for use in the business aviation industry.

The company said that the unit delivers high speed Internet service via the Aircell Network in an affordable and lightweight package. It is specifically designed for aircraft operators that don't require the comprehensive capabilities of the Aircell Axxess cabin system.

Aircell now offers two equipment packages for business aircraft operators seeking Aircell High Speed Internet capabilities, the ATG 5000 High Speed Internet unit and its ATG 4000 High Speed Internet unit which is a modular add-on to the Aircell Axxess cabin system. The latter can also provide multiple channels of worldwide voice and narrowband data service via the Iridium satellite network in a network neutral package.


Pricing for the units was not discussed.
