[October 05, 2009] Cisco and Openet provide Turkcell with charging solution for 3G data services Tweet (Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Network solutions provider Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO) and transaction management specialist Openet today announced that mobile network operator Turkcell has deployed a combined solution based on technology from both companies which provides the operator with data allowing efficient charging for data services. The companies said that the solution, which went live in June 2009 when Turkcell launched its new 3G data services, helps the operator deliver and charge for pre- and post-paid data and next-generation services, allowing it to offer customers several billing options based on the application used, for combined services or by bandwidth consumed. Openet's FusionWorks Convergent Charging solution was combined with Cisco's Enhanced Gateway GPRS Support Node (eGGSN), based on the high-performance Service Application Module for IP (SAMI) technology in the Cisco 7600 Series Router, the Cisco Service Control Engine and the Cisco Access Register to provide the transactional intelligence that Turkcell requires for the accurate delivery of, and charging for, 3G services. The Cisco eGGSN solution provides advanced processing of Internet Protocol (IP) flows for content-aware billing, filtering, management and analysis in a highly scalable, fault-tolerant package. The solution helps Turkcell to deliver personalised mobile data services to its customers. Financial details of the deployment were not discussed.
