Level 3 wins Cypress Communications deal

Oct 01, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Level 3 Communications has won a contract from Georgia-based managed communication solutions provider Cypress Communications to deliver a variety of high-bandwidth services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the deal, Level 3 will provide Cypress with colocation, voice and a variety of Ethernet-based and high-bandwidth services in 29 markets across the country. The company said the deal will enable Cypress to provide its customers with a greater selection of advanced network, redundancy and continuity services.

Jorge Rosado, executive vice president of engineering and network operations at Cypress Communications, said: "Level 3 is a strategic partner for us because of its nationwide backbone and fiber assets in our target metro markets. This will help us accommodate the growth we're seeing from our C4 IP hosted VoIP and unified communications solution." Earlier this year Level 3 won a contract from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to provide voice, video, and data offerings to all 39 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that provide healthcare coverage for more than 102 million Americans. In May the company announced plans to expand its operations in key local markets throughout the United States.
