BRIEF: Woman guilty in 2002 murder in New Smyrna BeachSep 21, 2009 (The Orlando Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A West Virginia woman was handed down three life sentences, without the possibility of parole, this afternon after a Volusia County jury found her guilty of first-degree murder in the 2002 slaying of a New Smyrna Beach woman. The jury also convicted Karen Blosser, 43, of armed burglary of a dwelling and armed robbery with a firearm, State Attorney's spokesman Chris Kelly said. The jurors deliberated for just over two hours before returning the guilty verdicts. Circuit Court Judge J. David Walsh sentenced her to life in prison on each charge, with the sentences running concurrently, Kelly said. The woman and her husband, Kenneth Blosser, 46, both were charged with first-degree murder in the death of 75-year-old Rose Crank, who was killed in her home. Kenneth Blosser pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2004 and agreed to cooperate with the state in the prosecution of his wife. At the time, Karen Blosser was found incompetent to stand trial.
