Internacional scored the game's first goal in the 28th minute off a penalty kick. Cruzeiro responded fast, tying the match in the 36th minute. The team also scored their first goal by penalty. As the second half kicked off, Cruzeiro took the lead. In the 52nd minute, Soares crossed a long ball to set up a Gilberto header.
