[September 12, 2009] Proxim Wireless Rolls Out 802.11n Guarantee Program Tweet Sep 11, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Proxim Wireless, a provider of broadband wireless systems, announced its 802.11n Compatibility Guarantee program for any Proxim 802.11n draft 2.0 WLAN products that have been or are purchased from its distribution channel worldwide prior to formal IEEE approval of the 802.11n standard. The company said the program will guarantee compatibility with the final 802.11n standard, currently scheduled for IEEE approval in September 2009, providing any necessary updates needed to be compliant with the final standard. "It is unlikely that today's 802.11n Draft 2.0 products will require any substantial upgrades in order to be compliant with the forthcoming standard -- but with this Compatibility Guarantee program we are assuring all customers worldwide that they can enjoy all the benefits of 802.11n today without having to worry about any changes," said Robb Henshaw, Director of Marketing & Communications for Proxim Wireless. After the 802.11n standard is ratified, Proxim Wireless said it will make a formal public announcement when the update program begins and at that time will state the specific end date and explain how end customers can receive the free software update. This compatibility program applies to the initial final approved version of the 802.11n standard. Proxim has not yet extended coverage of this program to any subsequent versions of the 802.11n standard after initial final approval.
