Freescale Demos Embedded Processing Solutions at IEC's Broadband World Forum Europe

Sep 11, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Freescale Semiconductor said that it showcased a set of embedded processing solutions for the broadband industry at the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) Broadband World Forum Europe 2009.

Freescale reported it demoed systems featuring processors built on Power Architecture and StarCore technologies, including the MSC8156 multicore DSP, which has been named an IEC InfoVision award finalist.

Additionally, Freescale said its MSC8156 multicore DSP device is a 2009 finalist in the Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies category for the show's InfoVision Awards, which recognize advances in technologies, applications, products and services judged to be the most beneficial to the information communication technology industry.

The MSC8156 DSP is designed to deliver the performance required for the creation of broadband wireless infrastructure equipment. The device integrates multi-standard baseband accelerators and combines six 1GHz cores based on Freescale's enhanced SC3850 StarCore DSP core technology. It is designed to deliver the flexibility, integration and affordability required to develop base stations for 3G-LTE as well as mainstream and other wireless standards supporting the 3G-HSPA, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX, TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE standards.
