VirtenSys I/O Virtualization Switches Win Best New Technology Award at VMworld 2009Sep 10, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- VirtenSys, a developer of I/O solutions for data centers, announced that its recently announced VIO 4008 I/O virtualization switch (code name VMX 5000 LSR) won the "The Best New Technology Award" at VMworld 2009. More than 200 products were considered in the Best of VMworld 2009 Awards in eight categories ranging from desktop virtualization to cloud computing. The awards are sponsored by TechTarget's SearchServerVirtualization.com. An independent team of judges consisting of experts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization.com reviewed and evaluated the products according to performance, reliability, and ease of use. "This award is a great testimonial to what our switches bring to IT end-users," said Ahmet Houssein, president and CEO at VirtenSys. "We see a customer demand for I/O virtualization to solve I/O bottleneck issues. Our products increase the efficiency and agility of data centers and enable the deployment of virtualization. We have recently announced funding and the general availability of our switches, and this award shows once more that we are in a position to continue building on the traction we have already generated at key OEM customers and end-users." The VIO 4008 switch is part of the VIO 4000 Series, which creates virtualized I/O clouds where servers' I/O resources are pooled, consolidated, and allocated on demand based on the applications needs. The VIO 4000 switches are based on the company's Virtual Connectivity Cloud platform that utilizes the PCI Express standard. VirtenSys said the switches are the first products on the market to consolidate, virtualize and share the server networking and storage connectivity, including Ethernet, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), SAS/SATA and Fibre Channel, without requiring any changes be made to the servers, networks, or I/O adapters.
