[September 10, 2009] Intellon Moving Site within Ocala Tweet Sep 10, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Intellon, a provider of HomePlug-compatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment, Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) and smart grid applications, announced it is moving its Ocala operations to a new facility located in the expanding technology corridor in downtown Ocala, Florida. A lease agreement has been signed and the company expects to move into the new facility in December, following the completion of renovations. Intellon was founded in Ocala 20 years ago and currently employs approximately 60 people in Ocala who work in hardware, software and applications engineering, as well as sales, business development, operations, software testing, finance and other administrative and support functions. The new custom-designed facility will be located at 203 East Silver Springs Boulevard, in the heart of Ocala's historic downtown area. The facility is being designed to enhance work flow and efficiency and provide room for additional employees. With support from the Ocala/Marion County Economic Development Corporation, the City of Ocala, Marion County and Enterprise Florida have agreed to contribute funds to offset some of the costs of the new location. The funding commitments are contingent on the company's maintaining and increasing jobs in the new location as well as other factors. "This is the third step in our program to increase the quality and efficiency of our facilities across the company," said Charlie Harris, chairman and CEO of Intellon. "Over the past 24 months, we opened a new headquarters office near the Orlando airport and made significant improvements to our Toronto, Canada facility. This move will bring our Ocala facility up to the same high standards. We particularly appreciate the support provided by our Ocala city and county governments as well as Enterprise Florida and the Ocala EDC, who recognized the value this new facility can have on employee morale and our ability to continue to recruit and retain high tech professionals to the Ocala area. This move would not have been possible without their support." Intellon's ICs are used by 50 service providers such as AT&T, Canal+, Chunghwa Telecom, DirecTV, Dish Network, France Telecom, Free (Iliad Group), PCCW, SFR/neuf, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, and Telenet. Major OEMs manufacturing consumer electronics products based on the company's ICs include Actiontec, Asoka, Aztech, Belkin, devolo AG, EchoStar, LEA, Linksys, Logitech, Monster, Netgear, and ZyXEL.
