Grandstream Unveils New IP Multimedia DeviceSep 06, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Grandstream Networks, a video and voice over IP solution manufacturer, announced the availability of the GXV3140 IP Multimedia Phone, which the company said is a new class of broadband IP multimedia phone that marries Web and social multimedia applications with free, real-time IP video and voice calling. Grandstream said that the GXV3140 allows consumers and small to medium-size businesses (SMBs) to harness the power and cost-effectiveness of Voice-and-Video-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) to make free video calls worldwide and to strengthen relationships with business colleagues/customers as well as family and friends. In addition, the always-on GXV3140 comes with an integrated web browser giving users one-touch access to personalized RSS feeds of real-time online information services (news updates, stock updates, weather forecasts, directory searches, etc.), thousands of Internet radio stations, social networking sites and streaming Internet entertainment sites like YouTube. "The GXV3140 Multimedia Phone is a top of the line choice for a desktop video and multimedia phone," said Mike Evanisko, Vice President of Technology at 888VoipStore. "With its high quality audio & video, simple configuration, and built-in IPVideoTalk for free peer-to-peer calling, the GXV3140 finally brings affordable desktop video and multimedia to the consumer and SMB market spaces." The GXV3140 is portable and lets users take the device with them wherever there is a broadband connection. For larger picture projection, the GXV3140 can be plugged into a computer or TV. "The media phone market, for both businesses and consumers, seems poised to take off with a number of communications vendors introducing new media phones this year for the home or office," said Sandra M. Gustavsen, analyst at T3i Group. "While one can see the many benefits in combining a telephone with video and Internet content, the phone's price will be a key factor in our current economy. Grandstream's GXV3140 offers users a multimedia experience complete with a full duplex speakerphone, IP video conferencing and support for today's popular social multimedia applications for $299, a price that competes well with other new 'consumer-oriented' media phones, but which is significantly lower than other 'business' media phones entering the market."
