Hewlett-Packard Execs Sell $6.8 Million Shares (HPQ)

Aug 26, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- 8/26/2009-While sentiment among market participants may be as high as its been since the entire financial crisis kicked off at the end of 2007, it seems sentiment among top tech firms like Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) may be waning. According to a regulatory filing, both the company's CEO and CFO exercised a combined $6.8 million in options over the past week. The firm's CEO, Mark Hurd sold almost $4.3 million in stock, or approximately 100,000 shares, which he had received after exercising options. While he sold in accordance with a trading plan he struck in May, the picture is still hazy as to why he sold the stock. Nonetheless, whatever the reason was, Hurd was able to net a 50% profit in the position, selling at exactly twice his basis price of $21.73.
