Enterprise debuts eEdition
Aug 23, 2009 (The Beaumont Enterprise - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Beginning Monday, readers have the opportunity to enjoy The Beaumont Enterprise in a whole new way.
The electronic edition, or eEdition, of the newspaper makes its public debut providing a wide range of benefits from e-mail capability to enlarged type size.
"I am thrilled that we are now able to offer all readers, regardless of where they live, this next generation of electronic newspaper. It is as relevant and indispensable as ever, but now enhanced in many respects through the latest technology," said John E. Newhouse II, president and publisher of The Beaumont Enterprise.
The eEdition is an exact copy of the daily newspaper pages in an electronic format readers can access from their home computer, cell phone, smart phone, PDA -- or even download to their eBook, Kindle2 or Sony Reader.
It is completely different from the Web environment of BeaumontEnterprise.com, offering complete stories and advertisements exactly as they appear on the pages of the printed version and skipping the chatter of the on-line community of Internet readers.
Features of the eEdition also allow readers to e-mail stories or advertisements to friends; download it to their computer for later reference, or even translate it into one of 11 different languages.
"Constantly finding ways to deliver more value to more readers is another reason The Enterprise is the No. 1 source for news and information in Southeast Texas," Newhouse said.
The eEdition not only provides a convenient way to read the newspaper, it also promises to be a favorite of those making an effort to be more environmentally conscious. Electronic delivery is the ultimate green experience at a cost of $8.95 per month, half the cost of the print version and without the paper filling up the recycling bin.
Current print subscribers who want to add an eEdition subscription receive a discounted rate of $4.25 per month so they have the convenience of a print copy at home and an eEdition while traveling or at the office.
