Huawei, ZTE Saw Global Market Shares Growing in Q2SHENZHEN, Aug 14, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. of China snatched a 17% share of the global telecom equipment market in the second quarter of 2009, according to the market adviser Dell'Oro Group. Meanwhile, ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763) lifted its share by about 100% year on year to 8%, depending on its aggressive prices and strong financial backup from state-owned Chinese banks. Scott Siegler, a Dell'Oro analyst, pointed out that the two Chinese telecom equipment providers' shares of the global market had both hiked approximately 100% in the past 12 months or so, thanks to the fledging Chinese 3G industry. Besides, both companies had made a progress in the European, Middle Eastern, African, and Indian markets. As for the global CDMA equipment market, ZTE and Huawei Technologies saw their combined share rocketed 200% year on year to 28% in the second quarter this year. In addition, Huawei Technologies became the world's second largest WCDMA base station provider in the fourth quarter of 2008 with a 27.1% market share. Source: www.sina.com.cn (August 14, 2009) |
