TechGuard Unveils PoliWall Q Security Appliance for Commercial MarketST. LOUIS, July 15, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- TechGuard Security, a provider of proven technologies and services that protect critical networks from cyber attack, today announced it is launching its PoliWall Q appliance into the commercial sector. The PoliWall Q is a high-performance security appliance designed to counter network attacks. Key Facts/Highlights: -- PoliWall Q provides innovative granular IP-based access control by rapidly filtering millions of global addresses with exceptions down to a single address. The product enables organizations to use a straightforward graphical interface to block entire countries, IP subnets, ranges or specific IP addresses from accessing a network at gigabit speeds. -- PoliWall Q offers simplified traffic management and configuration to Stop a Country with a Click(TM) with its proprietary High-speed Internet Protocol Packet Inspection Engine (HIPPIE) filter. The appliance is interoperable with existing firewalls, routers and other existing network components. -- Quality of Service capability on the PoliWall Q for network and datacenter operations auto-adjusts bandwidth allocation to give priority to selected IP addresses and ranges. Bandwidth throttling is available to control lower priority traffic and help mitigate denial-of-service attacks. -- Pre-Compiled Exception Lists (PCEL(TM)) can be uploaded to the PoliWall Q, blocking large lists of known botnet and spamming machines while continuing to offer access from trusted IP addresses and address ranges. -- PoliWall Q is designed for enterprise network and datacenter operations to auto-adjust bandwidth allocation based on network loads. It allows for granular access control without any latency in the network. -- The technology addresses both the IPv4 and IPv6 addressing protocols to meet current and future IT infrastructure requirements. Suzanne Magee, CEO at TechGuard Security said: "With unprecedented capabilities to filter traffic from certain countries, subnets, or ranges of IP addresses, the PoliWall Q becomes an immediate way to protect networks from cyber attack including denial-of-service. We are very pleased to extend this unrivaled network protection to commercial customers in financial services, healthcare, education, and a variety of other high security risk industries - thus providing a public/private support of security initiatives." Graham Titterington, principal analyst in information security at Ovum said: "Organizations need to be able to protect themselves from high-volume hostile Internet traffic without damaging legitimate business operations. PoliWall allows them to refine their blocking policy to allow selected groups of IP addresses within a blocked geographical area to continue to communicate. Its graphical interface allows the operator to understand traffic trends and quickly react to situations as they develop."
