Huawei launches mass-market Femtocell deviceJul 06, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Network infrastructure provider Huawei Technologies has launched a Femtocell device to enhance delivery of mobile voice and data services for enterprise and home environments. The company said the Femtocell 2.0 portable wireless access device will enable users to connect directly to a standard broadband DSL or cable service with delivery of indoor 3G network coverage for handsets. The device supports video streaming, IPTV, video conferencing, and mobile broadband. Jiang Wangcheng, president of UMTS at Huawei Wireless, said: "Having a robust yet versatile Femtocell device that is able to gain wide market acceptance is a key challenge faced by all operators." The company has 21 pre-commercial and trial femtocell networks with global telecom operators, and last December it developed the world's first commercial 3G femtocell network for StarHub in Singapore. http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
