FULL-TEXT CHINESE NEWSPAPERS COMING TO IPHONES IN JAPAN TOKYO - Peking University Founder Group Corp. will offer a service enabling users in Japan to read Chinese newspapers in their entirety on Apple Inc.'s iPhone. The Japanese unit of the major Chinese information technology firm is to launch the service next month. Users will be able to download that day's edition of five major Chinese newspapers by 10 a.m. The monthly fee for the service will be 315 yen per title. (TSE:2432) said Friday that it will take a 50 per cent-plus stake in British firm Waptx Ltd., turning the operator of a Chinese social networking site for cell phones into a subsidiary . DeNA will buy some 8.73 million shares in the British company this month via a private placement of shares. INDONESIAN GOVT MAY BAN IMPORT OF BLACKBERRY JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has warned the producer of BlackBerry to establish a service center in the country or it would reject all applications for new certification of the smart phone products. The Canada-based Research in Motion is required to have its service center before July 16, 2009, said Gatot S Dewa Broto, the spokesman of the ministry of communications and Information Technology. The four new projects include a laboratory and a facility to test ship design models with an investment of 85.6 million usd from the Vietnam Ship Research Institute under the Vietnam Shipping Industrial Group (Vinashin) and a 16.29 million usd internet centre funded by the Vietnam internet centre. |
