Cambodia has 7 cases of A/H1N1 virus


PHNOM PENH, Jul 03, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Cambodia has one more confirmed cases of A/H1N1 virus, bringing the total of virus to seven, Cambodian health officials said on Saturday.

Cambodia's first six cases of the new influenza A/H1N1 virus have been confirmed by the Cambodian National Influenza Centre ( NIC) late June and after receiving treatment at the hospital, they have been allowed to go home on Friday.

The new one, Ly Sovann, deputy director of the anti- communicable disease department at the Cambodian Health Ministry, told Xinhua by phone, is a Khmer womon from Phnom Penh who returned home on June 28 from Thailand and fell sick the next day and was confirmed the A/H1N1 virus on Thursday.



"She now is receiving treatment at Calmett Hospital and is in a stable condition," Ly Sovann said.

The six previous cases included four teens from the U.S., one Khmer and a man from the Philippines.


Cambodia's Ministry of Health and WHO continue to monitor very closely the situation and will remains a priority to keep the public well informed of any updates as they occur, he said.
