InFocus to Present Interactive Projector Technology at National Educational Computing Conference
Jul 03, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
InFocus, a developer of digital projection technology, announced it is unveiling its new interactive projector technology at the National Educational Computing Conference.
Currently undergoing beta testing, InFocus LiteBoard offers a portable solution for the education market by eliminating the need to purchase and install whiteboard hardware. InFocus said it is providing demonstrations of LiteBoard, which is enabled by DLP technology, at the Texas Instruments booth.
"Technologies that keep students engaged, and offer a rich, immersive experience, are vital for learning," said Jim Hirsch, associate superintendent for Academic and Technology Service at the Plano Independent School District. "The limited hardware requirements of InFocus LiteBoard make it easier to install and share among classes, while also redefining how educators experience the technology. We're extremely happy to be among the first to beta test this new technology."
Consisting of the LiteBoard projector and wand, the InFocus IN3902LB and IN3904LB interactive system will work on any surface-wall, screen, whiteboard-so there's no need to mount whiteboard hardware or limits to the size of the display. The wand works by detecting patterns in the projected image that the human eye cannot see, communicating with the projector over a radio frequency to triangulate exactly where the user is pointing. All information is passed to the computer as standard USB mouse clicks and coordinates, enabling LiteBoard to be used with any operating system and software that uses computer mice.
InFocus said its LiteBoard interactive projector will be generally available early Q4 of 2009.
