BRIEF: TV picks for June 22: 'History Detectives'

Jun 22, 2009 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- SPOTLIGHT 'History Detectives' 9 p.m. on PBS As Season 7 begins, the gumshoes investigate the "Psycho-Phone," a device supposedly built by Thomas Edison to allow communication with the dead. Also: war letters.

NEW TONIGHT 'I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here' 7 p.m. on NBC Something odd has happened to this annoying show. Sometime after "Speidi" departed, it became lovable. Last week, nobody would have been surprised if the remaining "celebrities" had held hands around the fire and sung "Kumbaya." But everyone should be out for him or herself this week, with the finale due on Wednesday.

'The Bachelorette' 7 p.m. on ABC Listen up, Jillian. Aspiring country singer Wes is in it for the free publicity. Cut those dreams short tonight.

'Secret Life of the American Teenager' 7 p.m. on ABC Family Amy adjusts to motherhood, and a tragedy affects everyone as Season 3 begins.

'The Closer' 8 p.m. on TNT In an episode called "Red Tape," Gabriel (Corey Reynolds) is investigated for shooting a homicide suspect, with the inquiry getting in the way of solving the murder.

'Here Come the Newlyweds' 9 p.m. on ABC The remaining couples compete to load a minivan. Blood may be shed.
